Villa ValleyView

Ancient Greece is not far away. Take a daytrip to the old town of Pylos (including another Venetian Castle), Nestors Cave and Castle, Ancient Olympia and Ancient Messenia.

Navarino by boat

Rent a small motor boat at the Pylos Boat Club and explore the bay of Navarino. Visit the island Sfaktiria and make a tour along the 4 memorial stones referring to the famous Battle of Navarino (1827). Visit the Chapel of Assumption and, a little further, the Russian church of St. Nicolas, which was built in 1997 using large tree trunks.

Follow the island’s coastline towards the lighthouse and you will come across the monument of the Italian philhellene Santaroza and the picturesque small harbor “salonaki”. Also Paul-Marie Bonaparte, Napoleon’s nephew is buried here. Take a picnic with you and moor the boat at the beach for a lazy lunch and a nice swim before you head back. You could also visit Gialova, this nice village has a boulevard full of good restaurants. At the pier you could easily leave the boat alone for a minute.
